Firearm Training Courses — Mercer County NJ
Handgun Fundamentals Course
This exclusive two-hour private instruction covers
the fundamentals of operating and safely handling a
handgun. Included in this unique course are
instruction and training on a semi-automatic, how it
operates and the safe handling of any handgun.
Topics covered are: Grip, Stance, Sight Alignment,
Target Acquisition, Trigger Control, Safety and
Maintenance. Live fire instruction with a pistol is
included, that provide hands-on training with
handguns designed for instruction in a private safe
environment. You will learn the fundamentals and
basics of how to safely handle a handgun with an NRA
Certified Instructor. Upon completion, you will gain
knowledge and understanding of many aspects of
handguns, as well as acquiring confidence to handle
your own personal firearm for your specific needs;
be it for home defense, hobby or hunting.
Recommended for people new to the sport. We also
offer advice and assistance for your personal
handgun selection. $ 175.
Advanced Handgun Shooting Techniques
This one-hour session is for people with some
experience in handgun shooting. It caters to
individuals who want more formal instruction on how
to handle a handgun. Some topics covered are: Grip,
Stance, Sight Alignment, Target Acquisition, Trigger
Control and Safety. Instruction is in a safe,
private environment, with an NRA Certified
Instructor. Upon completion, you will gain
additional knowledge and confidence in your shooting
techniques and skills.
$ 195 for a one hour
session at a local range for high caliber handguns.
$ 75 for a one hour session using a .22
handgun, at premises.
Selecting a Handgun - First Steps
This course provides people with the hands-on experience in choosing their own personal handgun. It provides not only instruction on the use and safety of handling a handgun; it allows the student to handle and live-fire a selection of different handguns. It can be considered the second step in the decision to obtain a handgun for home defense or hobby and provides the student with an understanding of the various sizes, styles and calibers available. Ultimately, it will provide you with information to help you make a selection of a handgun that is best suited to you. Either the NRA Basic Pistol Course or the Handgun Fundamentals should be taken first.
Two-hour session: $295.
Conducted at two locations for classroom and live-fire. (1 hour for travel to/from the range included in cost.) Two-hour session is $195, .22 caliber handguns only. all inclusive.
Conducted at one location.
This one hour course is used as a refresher on your handgun use and safety, with live-fire gun training and gun maintenance instruction. $ 175 plus ammo
Non-Resident Florida Concealed Carry Gun Permit
The course is about 1 hour long and includes the completion of the application for the Florida license.
You will need the following to complete this course:
A copy of your valid NJ Drivers License.
A copy of your Resident Alien card if applicable (For Non citizens, residing permanently in the United States and copies of one of the last three month’s utility bill)
A copy of proof of formal firearm training, such as an NRA Certificate for the Basic Handgun Course; your DD214 or your Honorable Discharge Certificate.
A copy of your SBI Card (New Jersey Firearm Purchase Card)
One passport photograph
Notarization of your completed Application will be provided after course completion.
You will be responsible, after the course, to obtain a set of fingerprints on the form that will be given to you during the course. You will either have these taken at your local police station, or you may have to go to an outsource facility to have them taken electronically. Your local police station will have this answer.
The cost for this process is $45 per application.
This course is highly recommended for newly acquired
handguns. It provides enhanced training in the use
of your handgun. Extensive live-fire training will
instruct you in handling, shooting and maintaining
your personal handgun. Your overall proficiency will
be enhanced and you will gain the confidence to use
your skills for your shooting experiences, be it for
self-defense, as a hobby or for competition
shooting. $175 per hour – Client will
provide firearm and ammo.
This unique course offers one-on-one instruction.
It’s designed to meet the individual’s abilities.
Basic fundamentals of shotgun shooting will be
covered, along with terminology, safety and
maintenance of shotguns. Additionally, live-fire
practice and instruction is provided at a shooting
range. Due to the various requirements of people,
this course is provided on an hourly basis. $185 per hourWith Trap shooting: $220 per hour
NRA Basic Pistol
- Blended Phase 2
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a two-part
course consisting of an e-learning portion
(completed online-in your own timeframe) and a
hands-on practical portion conducted under the
guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified
Instructor. The course is intended for all adults
regardless of previous shooting experience.

Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety
rules, proper operation of revolvers and
semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and
selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the
fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and
maintenance. When you enroll in the online course,
you create a personal identification number (PIN).
When you successfully complete the course, printing
your certificate activates that PIN. The activated
PIN allows you to register for the instructor-led
training portion of the course. You will then call
us to schedule the day you wish to take Phase 2. Or,
you can go to the NRA web site and sign up on-line.
During the instructor-led-training portion of
the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will
validate comprehension and application of gun safety
rules; range protocol; proper handling; loading and
unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting
fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire;
and a final shooting qualification. $175
NRA Basic Shotgun
Shotgun types, parts and their operation; The rules
of safe gun handling; How to safely handle and
operate the various types of shotguns and actions;
Ammunition parts, types, and function; identifying
the proper ammunition; common malfunctions and how
to safely handle them; The proper shooting
techniques and positions necessary to be an accurate
and effective shotgun shooter; Commonly used range
commands; The important gun safety rules you should
be aware of when shooting; Practice and qualify for
a Basic Practical certification in a live fire
session using moving targets; How to clean and
maintain your shotgun; How to store your shotgun
safely and securely; The laws regarding owning,
storing and transporting, firearms and ammunition;
The application process and what documents you will
need to purchase a shotgun; Selecting and buying a
shotgun; The various shotgun sports, activities,
